Connect to the cloud in under a minute?  Surely this is purely marketing hype and isn’t actually true? Well actually this is possible, but there are a couple of pre-requisites, read on…

The ability to rapidly provision networking services on-demand leverages Megaport’s software-defined network platform and a simple web-based portal. Yes, to provision a connection takes less than a minute (59 seconds to be exact), but there are a few things you need to setup first:

  1. A physical port in a Megaport supported data centre (all the major DCs are covered)
  2. A physical (Layer-2) connection from your assigned Megaport to your network switch/router (Megaport will issue a Letter of Authority to your DC advising them how to connect)
  3. A destination end-point to create a connection to (Virtual Cross Connect).  This can be either a direct cloud link (AWS DirectConnect, Azure ExpressRoute, Google Interconnect) or another Data Centre

Once you’ve got basic connectivity, it literally takes just a few clicks to setup a Virtual Cross Connect (VXC) between your network and your chosen end-point.
